Our Mission

Family Focus partners with families to provide high-quality care and education to meet the individual needs of our children.  We are committed to preparing children for future success through credentialed staff, nurturing environments, and research-based curriculum. Family Focus prides itself in serving a widely diverse population in a universal setting with support and education for all of its families.

Our Agency

Family Focus is a non-profit organization founded in 1985 and is licensed by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services. Its two Early Learning Centers are accessible, engaging, state-of-the-art facilities. Both centers are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Family Focus also provides School Age Care in the Bowdoin Community School, Bowdoinham Community School, Harpswell Community School, Williams-Cone School in Topsham, Woodside Elementary School in Topsham, and Hawthorne School in Brunswick. Our school-age programs are accredited by the Council of Accreditation (COA). Family Focus is committed to serving a widely diverse population in a universal setting with support and education for all its families.

Maine Quality Rating 

Family Focus programs are listed on the Maine Quality Rating and Improvement System as a on the Rising Stars for ME, level 5. Rising Stars for ME is a five-Star program designed to increase awareness of the importance of quality early childhood and out-of-school time experiences.

Rising Stars for ME has three goals:

  • To recognize early childhood and out-of-school time programs that meet standards of evidence-based quality practices.
  • To encourage and support programs to engage in continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • To provide families with identifiable standards of quality.

NAEYC

Accredited for more than 15 years.

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is the largest nonprofit association in the United States representing early childhood education. They have established an accreditation system that sets professional standards for high quality programs for young children.
